Miniature Pomeranian

Miniature pomeranian is not the same as a teacup dog and it is hard to tell from photos. The breed is now in the AKC Toy group and weighs usually 4-6 pounds. The weight of 3-7 pounds is considered ideal for a show dog. References to Teacup and other diminutive sizes are not encouraged, as there is no differentiation within the breed. The breed belongs to the Nordic family of dogs and was originally used as a sled dog and later a companion. Early specimens bred in Europe weighed about 30 pounds, yet the weight was decreased greatly as breeders strived to produce smaller dogs. Miniature pomeranian is not the same as a teacup dog and it is hard to tell from photos.
